Steve & Jackie Gleason had been visiting Paso Robles and enjoying the wines for years before opening the winery in 2014. Steve worked in institutional money management for 30 years while Jackie's professional career was in physical therapy and healthcare management before she transitioned to a stay at home mom. Satisfying a desire to leave the corporate world and start their own business, they moved to Paso Robles and embarked on an adventure in the wine business. Steve found his dream property, called his wife, Jackie, and she agreed they should buy it, sight unseen. When asked about this decision, Jackie has said there was an excitement in her husband's voice that she could not ignore. Four Lanterns Winery was born.
The Gleasons moved their four daughters from Southern California to Paso Robles to open Four Lanterns Winery. Their daughters inspired the winery's name, and designed the initial labels along with Steve.
Since the Four Lanterns tasting room opened in 2014, the Gleasons have worked to improve their family business. In 2015, construction was completed on a state of the art production facility that enabled their wines to be estate grown and produced. Four Lanterns' tasting room features artisanal spices from Smith & Truslow, Four Lanterns merchandise, and selected work from talented local artists.
Jackie and Steve enjoy hosting a series of events for visitors, friends, family, and wine club members throughout the year. Be sure to check out our calendar, Facebook, or Instagram for the latest happenings at Four Lanterns Winery.
Four Lanterns resides on 35 acres on the west side of Paso Robles in the formidable Willow Creek AVA. This area, renowned for hot days, cool nights and soil riddled with calcareous stone, provides a perfect environment for making exceptional wines. Jackie’s Vineyard, located in the Templeton Gap AVA, is the location where their Bordeaux varietals grow.
Specializing in wine varietals native to France's Rhone Valley & Bordeaux regions, Four Lanterns focuses on making estate wines, capitalizing on the natural strengths of their land. The resulting wines are beautifully complex, balanced, and wonderful to drink.
